When you have a general idea of where you would like to practice, you can consider other important factors like advertising and rent. You pay more for rent in a desirable location, so you could potentially save on advertising due to the visibility of your office. Typically when a location is low rent, it is probably not as desirable so you may have to invest more in advertising and signage.
If walk-in traffic is important to you when you start out, then paying more for a well-traveled location might be worthwhile. On the other hand, if you find a place that is not conducive for walk-ins you will need to invest more in advertising and other marketing tactics to drive traffic.
Remember, healthcare practices rely less on impulse buying than on accessibility, appearance and customer loyalty. For first-time customers, accessibility is important—they need to have a good experience from the moment they arrive.
